Abu also sits on the board of several non-profits including NO MORE, New Jersey Institute of Technology and to the Sales Force Customer Advisory Board, Abu frequently speaks at industry conferences globally. Lindsey Baron, Executive Director of Customer and Partner Communities, athenahealth

Lindsey joined athenahealth in 2013 to help launch the athena Marketplace program. Since then, she’s worked with a myriad of teams across athenaNation, including Emerging Services and Technology Enabled Services. Today, Lindsey leads the athenaCommunities team, which is responsible for nurturing, growing, and connecting the diverse clients and partners that contribute to our ecosystem. Prior to joining athenahealth, Lindsey worked in Operations in Industrial Supplies and Oil and Gas. She holds a MBA from Northwestern University and is a founding board member of the Massachusetts chapter for Conquering Congenital Heart Defects.

Joe Blewitt, Chief Exectuive Officer, Epion

Joe Blewitt is the CEO of Epion Health. He founded the company in 2011 to provide a platform to bridge the gaps in communication between patients and healthcare stakeholders. Prior to Epion, Joe started companies that provided point of care engagement tools to the healthcare industry. His firms designed and manufactured products for most of the world’s top pharmaceutical and medical device companies, including Pfizer, Merck, Stryker, Medtronic, GSK and Novartis. Joe graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He served in the Air Force for more than 25 years as a command pilot and senior officer.

Paul joined athenahealth as our Chief Product Officer in September 2019 with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare information space. Paul joined us from PatientKeeper, a provider of software applications that optimize physician and practice workflows, which he led as CEO. Paul holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Bret received his B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

William has over 30 years of healthcare industry experience focused on driving disruptive solutions, leadership expertise in building large client-facing organizations, and a deep understanding of the provider space. Over the course of his 15-year tenure with athenahealth, he has served in many client-facing roles. He previously held leadership positions at American Well, Allscripts, and IDX Systems Corporation. He holds a B.S. of Mathematics from Villanova University.

Kara brings her industry knowledge and experience in social marketing, health communication and public health toward supporting athenahealth’s patient experience product and service offering. Prior to athenahealth, she engaged in sales support and patient marketing related roles in healthcare communication and disease management companies.

Tarek Fahl M.D., Chief Executive Officer, Doc Response

Tarek Fahl, M.D. founded DocResponse, Inc. a digital check-in, clinic workflow and clinical decision support tool developed by board certified specialist physicians in order to assist physicians and physician extenders by increasing clinic efficiency, documentation and revenue. In 2 short years, DocResponse had gone from an idea to being recognized as the most accurate medical diagnostics software solution on the market in a peer-reviewed study published by Harvard Medical School in the July 2015 BMJ (British Medical Journal). DocResponse significantly outperformed healthcare technology giants such as WebMD, Harvard Medical School Family Health Guide and the Mayo Clinic. The DocResponse solution is capable of increasing clinic efficiency by over 70% and providing extensive documentation to allow more accurate billing codes. Dr. Fahl joined Texas Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in 2002, ascending to managing partner in 2006. During his tenure as managing partner he was instrumental in increasing the size and revenue of the orthopedic practice; as managing partner, he increased revenue by 100%, purchased and developed key real estate, and led the construction of a 36,000 square-foot professional building which encompasses a clinic, surgery center, physical therapy center, and imaging. Dr. Fahl also brokered a joint real estate project with another medical group in The Woodlands, Texas, which provided a second 22,000 square-foot professional building housing a clinic, physical therapy center, and imaging facility for his practice. DocResponse is not Dr. Fahl’s first foray into the technology sector. In 2012 he was a seed investor in a novel healthcare appointment solution which was acquired by the Advisory Board in 2014. Dr. Fahl is a 1996 graduate of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; he completed residency in Orthopedic Surgery from Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2001 and completed a fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 2002. Dr. Fahl keeps his orthopedic skills honed by still practicing at Texas Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, a single specialty orthopedic group in Houston, Texas and the surrounding areas.

Jennifer Gruger, PMI-PBA, Telehealth Project Manager, Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center

Jen Gruger joined Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center’s EHR Support Department in 2018 with a focus on Quality programs and integrated product support. When the organization took on the challenge of ‘on demand’ direct-to-consumer telemedicine as an extension of its Urgent Care services (pre-COVID 19) she brought 10 years of experience in HIT project management to the goal. She is now overseeing three distinct lines of telehealth services and looking to the future for more ways to use technology to meet the patient and the provider where they are.

Dr. Harris, a psychiatrist from Atlanta, Georgia, is the Immediate Past President of the American Medical Association. A recognized expert in children’s mental health and childhood trauma, Dr. Harris has served on the AMA Board of Trustees since 2011 and was its Chair from 2016 to 2017.

Dr. Hatch leads the development of clinical programs at Phreesia. She partners with clinical leaders to improve quality performance through the implementation of patient-reported outcomes (PROs), social and behavioral needs screenings and patient activation modules. Prior to joining Phreesia, Dr. Hatch was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vital Score, a digital health company acquired by Phreesia in 2018. She is an Instructor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins and serves on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Association of NY (PANY) affiliated with NYU Langone Health. She holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from City University of New York, a postdoctoral certificate in psychoanalysis from PANY, and a BA from Columbia College.

Lianna Lawson DO, Lawson Family Medicine

Dr. Lianna Lawson graduated from West Virgina School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. She completed her residency in family medicine through East Tennessee State University, and she then practiced for two years in a rural clinic in Appomattox, VA. She then joined Lewis Gale Physicians for several years prior to starting her independent practice in Daleville, VA. She has been in private practice for almost eleven years. She has a diverse patient population and continues to care for newborns and children along with her varied adult population.She has used EHRs in her practice since day one and was involved with the implementation of I-Pad usage at her previous EHR company. Telemedicine was incorporated into her practice in 2017 and has a large portion of her patient access the patient portal. She has always had a passion to find new ways to help her patients stay connected to her and the practice and truly feels that telemedicine has greatly improved her patients’ abilities to access care and her ability to better meet their needs.

Matt Longley, Director, Product Market Strategy, athenahealth

Matt Longley is the Director of Product Strategy for athenaClinicals, leading product investment strategy and product positioning for the flagship athenaClinicals product along with special projects such as athenaTelehealth. Matt has been with athenahealth for four years, previous to which he worked in the consulting and tech startup space. Matt is passionate about driving quality and accessibility in healthcare, enjoying the outdoors with his dogs, and being held to task for the effectiveness of EHRs by his wife, who is a practicing OBGYN.

Jeff McInnes, Director of Billing and Patient Access, Esperanza Health Centers

Jeff got his start in revenue cycle management working with small group practices in Southern Indiana before moving to Chicago to pursue work in community-based nonprofits. Prior to joining the Esperanza family, he led the managed care and central intake departments at Haymarket Center, a community-based substance use disorder treatment facility in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. At Esperanza, Jeff directs our billing department and call center, working across the finance and operations teams to promote patient access and minimize financial barriers to care. In his free time, he plays rugby for an LGBT inclusive team, enjoys cooking, skiing, and traveling.

Nabeel Meghiji, Chief Product Officer, DispatchHealth

Jennifer A. Meller, M.D., M.B.A., Navimize

Dr. Jennifer Meller is the founder and CEO of Navimize, a Healthcare IT company that features a virtual waiting room. In her role as CEO, Dr. Meller took the company from idea to market ready platform. She worked closely with the technical team to build a robust, personally tested and worked with colleagues who tested the product, iterated the product, ultimately identifying the inputs utilized to build out the proprietary algorithms and customizable features in Navimize. Dr. Meller launched and completed four successful Navimize pilots in physician practices, oversaw the successful integration of Navimize with the athenahealth EMR, and in 2020 successfully sold the platform to both large health systems and physician practices nationally. Dr. Meller is an internist and the founder and director of Park Avenue Medicine. She is a voluntary Attending Physician at NY Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell, is on the faculty of the Weill Cornell School of Medicine, and has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and NY Times SuperDoctor every year from 2014 through 2020. Dr. Meller holds an MD degree from NYU School of Medicine (1996) and an MBA with Honors from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania (2016).

Alex Mohseni, MD, FACEP, is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician who has helped lead and develop multiple large telemedicine programs across the country, cohosts the Mastering Medicare podcast, and is the Medical Director for Accuhealth.tech, a startup providing a turnkey Remote Patient Monitoring solution.

Michael Palantoni is the Vice President of Product Management for athenahealth’s Platform Services division. He is focused on enabling provider organizations, payers, application developers and internal teams to create solutions that improve care delivery and interoperability through their use of the athenahealth Platform. Michael leads athena’s product offerings that power its 2B+ monthly API calls, 400+ partner applications, 5M monthly payer clinical exchanges, and 2M covered lives in value based contracts. He has previously led teams in patient engagement, business development, and program management across athenahealth’s products. Prior to athenahealth Michael was a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting where specialized in health care and technology, and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering.

He has over 20 years of leadership experience in the software and IT services industry, spanning across sales, marketing, operations, and corporate strategy. As Senior Director, Rachel (also known as “Rae”) leads research studies on provider strategy and applies the knowledge and resources available through Advisory Board research to address the top challenges at individual organizations. Rachel has been leading or advising research studies for Advisory Board since 2015, and has overseen a wide range of publications on topics like primary care transformation, consumer strategy, medical group operations, physician engagement, and burnout prevention. Through her research Rachel provides the strategic guidance, tools, and implementation support to help executives find and implement the best solutions to the toughest challenges facing health care. To apply lessons learned from research to individual organizations, Rachel splits her time between advising researchers and helping executive teams make sound decisions and substantive progress against their goals. Known for her energetic style and passion for teaching, Rachel is a frequent speaker and facilitator at physician retreats and leadership meetings. She is always excited to work directly with executives to educate, advise, and offer tactics for scalable implementation. Rachel holds an MS in Health and Exercise Science from Colorado State University and a BS in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University.

Douglas L. York, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer Union Community Health Center, Inc.

Douglas L. York has been a healthcare Executive for over twenty-five years. His career is highlighted by his management of hospitals, health centers, and physician practice corporations serving as the executive for leading trauma centers, general hospitals, as well as behavioral and correctional health care facilities. Dr. York specializes in coordinating distressed facility evaluations and organizational re-engineering initiatives and has done so for several hospital and medical centers in the New York tristate area. He is active in the Health Policy arena, holding Board level positions with State and National Health Care membership organizations and has also served on two White House Task Forces for special populations. Dr. York is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Union Community Health Center, one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Centers in New York State and a leading multi-site provider of primary and specialty medical, dental, behavioral health, and physical rehabilitation services in Bronx, New York. He is an active faculty member in both the medical school and school of health policy and practice at New York Medical College educating graduate and medical students regarding the clinical management, financial, regulatory, and social issues associated with the U.S. healthcare system. Dr. York holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Finance from Pace University, a Master of Public Health Degree from New York Medical College, and a Doctoral degree in Strategic Management and Economics from Pace University.
