Hurricane Matthew is set to bear down on much of the South in the next twelve to twenty-four hours. At athenahealth, we’re thinking about our valued clients who may be in the eye of the storm and wishing them safety and security in the coming days.
One thing they won’t have to worry about, however, is their data. Thanks to our cloud-based model and backup protections, it’s business as usual on athenaNet.
Members of our network have experience weathering natural disasters, and we are reminded of their incredible fortitude and resilience. I think about, for example, Dr. Bernadette Sheridan’s experience in Brooklyn as Superstorm Sandy tore through the city in 2013, damaging her practice—but not her data or her spirit.
Remember, the cloud is always up, but connections to the Internet sometimes go down. It is likely there will be disruption to local utilities, including internet service, in the Southeast.
In the case of power outages, and in the absence of redundant power sources or ISPs, athenahealth providers can still access their EHR via the Clinicals mobile experience on a phone or tablet equipped with data. Our CSC is also open to take your calls.
For those providers in the eye of the storm, our thoughts are with you. Focus on taking care of your staff, your patients, your offices, each other…We’ll take care of your records.
