After 18 years, of treatment for a degenerative disc disease, I became in need of physical help. Thus, I moved from California, to Texas. Since doing so, what has happened is that the perscribing doctors IMMEDIATELY cut my meds by 40%, across the board. Now, four months later, they are DEMANDING that my meds are decreased yet again, due to a new law! My disease is DEGENERATIVE! It will NEVER get better; the disease is Scheurrmanns' Kaiphosis. The discs of my spine deteriorate to something akin to tissue paper, as they dissolve entirely, leaving bone on bone. Just the WORD, degenerative, means "getting worse," "going downhill," and yet, I am now lumped into a law that will yet again, continue to rob me if any quality of life! Over the last four months, I have become unable to do most of the things that, over the last 18 years, I was able to accomplish. My quality of life is "circling the drain," and now I am but steps away, from being able to live independently. In 18 years, I've never abused my meds! I've requalified for SSID each time my case has been brought up for review, by SS's doctors! Due to these stringent laws, and the fact that the pain specialist is telling us that even NOW, my pain meds must be cut again...my life is in jeopardy. There is NO taking each case individually; no treating us as individuals, but lumping ALL of us, into a random area, where the amount perscribed, in my case, will NOT be effective! I've suffered in excruciating pain, for five days.... praying that the pain would receed...and scheduled an emergency visit to my pain specialists' office, because I took what rhe equivalent of 24 hours meds, off schedule, because I could not sleep, much less function! My lower back and hips are burning as if on fire! But, they accepted my co-pay, knowing FULL WELL, AHEAD OF TIME, what had happened, and how I dealt with it. I am now left with a 24 hour period of time, before I can see a pain specialist, on Monday...and if ANY of you know what happens if you don't have your meds; well! You WIND UP IN AN Emergency Room...being treated like an addict. 18 years, and THIS, is what treatment of disease looks like. Everyone in that clinic, says it's a FEDERAL MANDATE! My question here is WHY? WHY are these healthcare workers NOT speaking up, on behalf of the patient?

That is a very good point. Methadone and Suboxone are given out like candy to addicts who sell half of them. I also have chronic pain and the wonderful VA dropped me after 12 years of Fentanyl and Oxycodone. I'll be lucky if I survive as I have high blood pressure.

I totally agree with you I have been a patient for chronic pain treatment for 20 years I've had surgery, I've had nerve burning, I've had steroid shots all in my neck and my back over the years nothing has really helped and I am still in great pain I went to my doctor today literally walked in his office waiting for my usual renewal of opiates and pain medications and was slapped in the face with a suboxone prescription so I don't suffer through withdrawals, and all the drugs I would need to support me as I go off of my medication my doctor said to me in an angry voice after I sat there and cried for 5 minutes, I can't lose my license I have a wife, two children, and a home with a mortgage. My reply was I have a house a child and a mortgage and by doing this to me will cause me nothing but grief and pain I have tried Suboxone in the past for pain it just doesn't work. I would like to get a movement started somehow, I live in New York upstate, there must be some way we can get these people to listen for us and chronic pain you can't just cut us off of everything and expect it's going to be okay first it was the pharmacy cutting back on the amount they would distribute and then the doctors being threatened to pull their licenses. We need to stand together and do something about this it's not funny in any way it's tragic. Not sure where you live but we need to band together as people who need medication not abusers or sellers. It's unfair we are all suffering because a few bad apples have spoiled the batch. I'm happy to do research and help in any way I can I believe from what I've read and heard that Governor Cuomo is playing a big part of this problem in New York not sure what other governors or congressmen or senators are involved please tell me what I have to do to make a difference I want in and I will fight in a couple of weeks I will be sick I won't be able to leave my bathroom and even with Subutex and Lomotil and support drugs I still will be in the worst pain of my life. I have a combo of drugs now that was working just fine and I was able to buy a home, get my things out of storage as my husband passed away recently, move in and try to keep clean vacuum do dishes make the house nice and take care of my son my deceased husband helped a lot when he was around now my son is taking that role after working many hours at his job is happy to help me out around the house do laundry and vacuum but there are times when I have to do it I truly believe I will be physically unable to do much once I'm off my drug regiment and that will be in just a few weeks. tell me where to go and what to do and I will be there. Thank you for listening and reading

You are absolutely 100% correct . After nearly 27 yrs of relying on a pain medication that finally worked for me without being medicated up, one that I could actually function with that didn't have me high or drowsy, I was without less than a month warning my prior PC I'd had for 16 yrs of the 35 yrs being a patient at this particular clinic, Had suddenly moved out of state & I was given a different Dr from the 1 he had set up 4me & 2make a long Agonizing story short as posbl. We did not hit it off well at all. She was & is a book learned, do whatever regulators tell her & Don't know individual people & their health for crap! free outing me through pure hell with my pain meds she attacked 1st & went horribly wrong then tells me she apologized 4not having previously Read my File/ chart! And still cutey pain meds by 20mg. Fast forward to last month after I foolishly trusted a nurse at the clinic to make a burble complaint against the Dr , which they did nothing abt (& mind you she was recently a daily new Dr with them) . So I get a dear John kiss off letter telling me 2find another Dr. Now me a single &living alone 55 yr young with multiple serious health issues & taking many meds as well as my pain meds & boom just like teatime now trying figure out how to`s, what to`s Do! On state medicaid (so the gov gets 2call all the shots), a hmo thatwouldnt pay 4 a. 1cent aspirin if they could figure out how to get away with it! Behaving shakes difficulty breathing & looking for a new PC, and no pain meds 2 help with the pain's of 4low back surgeries, mastectomies from cancer & abt2 have another brest surgery, liver pain from Her C Cirrhosis & I'm neither a drug user or drinker! But being treated AGAIN as an addict I'm not, abuser im not! And besides praying for God & Christ to help me. I don't know what else to do!

So correct. My PM doctor was forced into retirement because she was told to monitor her opioid prescribing. I can’t blame her but now I’m struggling to find someone to trust me as she did. I’ve been her patient for 15 years and never had an issue or problem. It’s horrible no one wants to listen to me or give me a chance. I have no quality life right now. I can’t sleep, walk, sit, or stand without excruciating pain. I’m 43 yrs old and I have a 16 yr old son who doesn’t want to see him mom in bed all day. But that’s what’s it has come to. I pray they realize that chronic pain sufferers aren’t the problem.

You are so very correct. These new opioid laws are actually going to cause an increase in people with chronic pain turning to street drugs. Why can’t the government let the doctors do their jobs?

I totally agree that patients suffering from chronic pain are the folks paying for those who abuse opioids. Drug addicts will find a substitute for their craving needs, so stopping opioid use is not going to help. We as patients/people are not allowed by law to diagnose and/or prescribe medications to others, so why are politicians and insurance companies aloud? I noticed the pain physicians practice being a politician instead of being a physician. This hurts patients a lot because those physicians have no back bone to stand for the care of their patients. If my pain physician continues to play games with my health, I will file a law suit against the physician and those backing him. I have been on opioids for 7 years with harm to myself nor have I ever sold any, I need this medication for my pain, and now I have been diagnosed with MS, my pain has soared. My pain Dr just stopped my pain medication for 3 weeks to make sure I stopped taking colazopan for anxiety. Enough is enough!!!!

I have chronic pain as well, I have been on pain medication for years, and yes I take them as prescribed, I have bka, lympidima, Ra levels, my bones break with no cause,in the last three months I have been knocked down on my medication every time I go see my doctor and told I have to go down even lower, I can't get relief now on the dose I have been knocked down to, I don't understand why we're being punished because someone else uses them for a high. All this is doing is making the honest people that need the medication suffer, while the drugie goes on to a different high. These so called people that are making these rules should have to come and talk with the patron that are honestly using medication for pain let them see how we're suffering, hurting. I feel like we're being labeled we're being treated unfairly. Evidently these people have never had health problems true pain. They say because of the OD epidemic but most of the people that OD was not going to a pain management doctor. Not only have they taken the patient rights away but the doctor's as well to treat, so I guess they're smarter than a doctor that specialize in pain management. We're now in a place where we must suffer, can't have a quality of life, now we're treated unjustified.I do however agree there is a problem make regulations but not at the cost of the people that actually suffer, now we're told we can be put on a withdraw mediation but how does that help with the pain it doesn't it just helps you go through the withdrawal of the doctor's knocking your medication down so fast. That doesn't help with the continual pain you're in. So more or less. Doctor can help you with the withdrawal but sorry you're going to suffer in pain the rest of your life. People are actually killing them selves do to the severity of these rules someone needs to look deeper into this matter before jumping to conclusions...........

I am a recipient of this exact treatment. 24 YEARS ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 nasal pharyngeal carcinoma with metastasis to lymph nodes. I was prescribed Roxicet for pain. I refused to take it because I despise that high feeling. I want to be in control of my awareness. A second biopsy of an already burned and raw mouth and throat changed that decision. I could not believe the difference being in excruciating pain made in not only your mental attitude but healing as well. I had only one refill and that was the last. Treatment was not the only issues requiring pain meds but side effects of radiation as well. The joints and muscle pain made my job as a Profoundly Handicapped teacher almost impossible, however, i lived on aspirin which just improved it for about an hour but enough to transfer the students from their wheelchairs and so on. I then required the placement of a trache due to radiation damage to my airway. I developed an uncontrollable cough making simple things like talking and eating impossible. I was prescribed HYDROCODE cough syrup. It had a dual effect of quieting the cough and thickness of saliva but it also regulated the pain to a less intense status.I took 1 tsp every four hours. I continue with the same amount to this day.I do not drink alcohol or engage in any other painkiller drug use. In fact, my only drug besides the cough syrup is thyroid medication. I was informed this week after 22 years that my ENT can no longer prescribe my medicine. I need to find a pain doctor. I was diagnosed about 7 months ago with stage 1 tonsil cancer so I assume my Oncologist can prescribe the medicine but what happens when the cancer is gone what dr is going to prescribe the quantity and schedule not knowing anything other than what I tell him or her. My Drs know every little detail of everything I have been through How dare some Governmental decision compare me to a drug abuser. I wish they could walk one week in my body but I'm a nice person and couldn't stand to think someone has to bear this type of life However even one day would change their illiterate and blind decisions. I believe each case should be considered based on documentation from a doctor not insurance or Pharmacists who have turned me away often thinking I was an addict. in fact, one Pharmacist said you are addicted to this and came from behind the counter and gave me a bottle of Vicks Formula 44. I smirked and said one day you will experience severe pain, maybe only temporary however you will remember this conversation. I asked for my prescription back and went to two others before I found a true human being who apologized for the other misinformed Pharmacists. The funny thing she was in her mid-twenties, the others were in their late forties. These laws need to be modified I am sick I'm in pain I have to drive to the Dr's office, pick up a prescription every three weeks and hopefully find a pharmacy that has it in stock or a pharmacist who knows me. This is tragic. Somebody has to hear us, we cannot just stand like a herd of cattle following and kissing the ass of the one in front of us because we just go along with everything they throw our way. What's next? determining that after 10 years your pain doesn't exist any more ? or better yet all pain medication will be replaced with Yoga and meditation. WAKE UP! one blanket law or requirement is not going to work for everybody. Does all cancer get treated the same way??? Then why should our pain management availability be the same?

I have suffered from chronic pain for years at first I took aspirin lots gave me ulcers. Then doctor put me on morphine and oxycodone combo that has been working beautiful for 4 years. Today I find out that someone in Washington has decided that unless I have cancer I am taking too much medicine. I have a serious hereditary back issue along with a couple of blown discs I have never once abused or misused my meds but now y feel like I am being punished for those people who do. It is wrong for some person with no medical training to tell my doctor how to treat my issue. Back to the aspirin hope that the ulcers don't become va life threatening issue.

Yes yes yes yes yes 1000% yes! That’s why I, a chronic pain sufferer (not patient, as NO ONE has ever given me opioid medication outside of a short course for a dental procedure) have no choice but to LIE and say I’m an addict just to get suboxone which it’s partial opioid ingredient buprenorphine helps pain tremendously. I have been sent home to suffer by every Dr I’ve ever met and now that I am a Mother to a 3 year old and can’t just “lie down” or “take it easy” I have decided to do this as I have no other choice or alternatives. I’ve done all the chiro and PT in the world and nothing helps. Also, I can no longer take any NSAIDs at the age of mere 31 years old bc I have taken them everyday of my life since age 14 when my back pain started to get really bad. I now have an ulcer and vomit and defecte blood when I do take NSAIDs, along with the nice heartburn. My Dr insisted I stay on NSAIDs and gave me some Pepcid to help protect my stomach. Ha! What a joke. The NSAIDs don’t provide enough relief to even talk about so I’ve stopped those all together and told him I will just have to find another way to treat myself since he and every Doctor I’ve seen refuse to give me any medication. I just love when they say “opiates don’t work for non-cancer pain” based on studies. My response to him? Idc what your study told you. I’ve taken MILD low dose opiate painkillers and they GREATLY reduce my pain levels and allow me to be a semi-normal person. They’ve swung from one end of the pendulum too far to the other side. How is it that addicts can get opiate medications but chronic pain sufferers cannot? That’s the CDC and DEA literally saying “Addicts lives are more important and valuable than anyone in chronic pain.” I “toughed it out” from age 14-28 and finally after having my son in 2015, I began seeking pain meds for my pain. They look at us as drug seekers. I told that Dr who treated me like a drug seeker that I was INDEED seeking medication. Anyone in chronic pain WANTS medication. The risks of dependence, tolerance and even addiction are of small consequence to someone suffering day in and day out in pain. Idk about you, but I’d rather be dependent or even addicted than dead from suicide! This entire situation repulses me and makes me enraged to the point that I can’t let it go. We chronic pain “patients” need to band together and organize a strike or SOMETHING. Our voices need to be heard. Period.

I agree whole heartedly! I have been in pain more of my life then not and I am losing my meds now. I am patient who has never abused them, in 15yrs never overdosed, never filled early ext.. I have tried everything too. Pain meds work for me. I am terrified of dying because I can’t live in that pain again. I got off of them more once and it was unbearable. Not a life or a life I want. But seriously I’d be better off dead. I wish something else worked as well. And I’m open to new things but do not bunch pain patients together. Yes people abuse them but I don’t and I need them as do others. My Health Insurace company has been Fucking w/me and my meds for at least 3yrs and it’s been so stressful. What gives them the right?? Are you my doctor? Now you are intimidating doctors into not prescribing. They took a oath to do no harm and for those with debilitating intractablechronic physical pain who take there precipitations correctly shouldn’t be penalized or basically in my case put death. Insurace companies shouldn’t be able to dictate what doctors prescribe!! The government needs to stop this which hunt. Why can true addcits ( not those who need and are physically dependent on some of there meds not all but I admit I am on one that is in my system 24/7-but I don’t get high off any! ) why do they get methodone. Why can’t I stay on my meds or I’ll have to get on methodone for the pain. Which I don’t want to do. Yes it’s helpful but has harsh side affects and makes you high! Medical Cannabis is too expensive especially since I especially can’t work now because of my pain. I was on the track to going back to finish my college degree and was working before all this. Even after having horriblely painful surgeries I went back. I stopped because the stress caused by my Insurace, losing meds, surgeries, an autoimmune disorder and because it’s a full time job being in pain these days too. If this doesn’t go back to normal then I will never be a mother, nvr marry my fiancé who can have a life w/out if I can’t have one anymore, I won’t ever change the world like I wanted to, I will nvr be able to volunteer at the nicu, planned parenthood, big bro’s big sis, ext.. anymore. I will die and because of stupid new laws that are doing more harm then good!! Pick on some other group of people not those who already are ostracized or suffering!! Or why not make a safer way for those above board patients to get there meds and stay safe. Have a strike rule. You Fuck up then your ducked! I get that! But those of us who are responsible with them plz don’t do this!!

Chronic pain is no different than cancer pain, but instead of dying in 6 months you live with it day in and day out and no one give a shit about chronic pain. You wake up and your nerves are being eaten alive by your body. Imagine having to miss Birthdays, Family get together, family vacations, going on walks or riding bikes with you loved ones. Or how about pissing yourself in the middles of the night because the pain is great to walk to the toilet, let alone wipe your own ass. NO ONE comes to take care of you when you have chronic pain. If you have cancer then people come out of the wood work to help. I personal know several people that have MS,CP Lupus, Fibro, Cluster head aches, that have be on the same does for a decades. Able to take care of them self their self the house family and friend. This was before the WAR on people who are already suffering, then real drug addicts!~ you know the kind that rob shoot and steal to shoot up heroin smoke crack do fire up meth everyday started dying off. This was not because of the legitimate prescription use. It is because CRIMINAL DRUG DEALERS wanted to make more MONEY!!! So they cut their product and made it so weak because of their greed they started cutting it with Fentanyl- Cocaine-Heroin even meth Fentanyl is what is responsible for 8 out of 10 Over dosses. The other 2 out of 10 are from people taking medication that was not superscribed to them. Bought on the black market. Any one remember the 42 people that drooped dead from the opioid crisis??It was heroin that was cut with Fentanyl. Yet the Corporate owned media spun it as 42 people dies in a park because of the Opioid crisis. The war on drugs is a complete FAILURE! THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS BLAMING THE Failed drug war on sick people who were receiving a better quality of life from using prescription medication as prescribed by their doctor. Watch DOPE on Netflix, The DRUG DEALER in the 7th session episode 7 or 8. He admits he sends out bundles with stamps on it and for every 60 bundles he sends out, he make one pouch will herion and one drop of pure Fentanyl, He admit this will cause one of his customers to OD. He laughs and say"Now one person has OD all the junkies will want my dope. He goes on to also admits that once everyone wants his brand he will start cutting it with milk sugar to lower the puriety so everyone craves his product. Just so we are crystal Clear, Unless you suffer from debilitation constant chronic pain and have done years of research. Shut the Fuck up. We do not have a OPIOID CRISIS we have a massive Heroin and METH Epidemic from a failed war on drugs. This reminds me of the school shootings! People blaming inanimate objects like gun for the Actions of a individual. Drugs and Guns don't kill people! People kill people and themselves. I would imagine the corrupt corporate media is even using suicides to try and justify the FAKE ASS OPIOID CRISIS.

I have been a compliant patient, and had a clean record for 9 years. Always passing my urine tests, never causing problems. I have had 6 joint replacements, a inoperable back, extreme pain. I was taken off of my Morphine 15 mg. tabs 3 times a day. I was holding my own. I had them taken away and put on Butrans patches. I felt like horses pounding in my chest, heart pounding also in my ears, sweating and chilling, blood pressing climbing in the 170's. I wound up in the hospital. Then put on 1 mg SUB Buprenorphine tabs. Same thing happened. I was told sorry, there is nothing else to offer. My pain is hard and constant thru my back. I live second by second. I pray for mercy, and don't want to live like this any more. I am a Christian, that is the only reason I am still here. I want the government, and pharmaceutical companies to suffer and the people to beg for mercy in pain for doing this cruel act toward we the patients who did nothing wrong, just trying to survive the best we could. The ones causing the problem will still get their stuff off the streets, no matter what. But yet we were thrown in with them. Damn everyone to Hell who did this to us. Meanwhile, people who are good, will die because the pain is unbearable.

I so agree, I had many reasons I didn't want on pain meds one is anyone taking one for years becomes dependent a good doctor will taper with you, as I said I had many personal reasons not wanting to be on pain meds I asked my doctor to taper, decreased all the way to 15mg I wound up having a surgery to remove a tumor under my hip, that turned into two surgeries in a three month spand during that time a increase in meds that I took with no relif unless I took it as prescribed, a app with my PCP who gave me my monthly script of 15mg I went home hadn't touched the last script from the surgeon, but went home with the monthly one from my doctor I was so sick misserble blood pressure dangerously high after a ER trip for that they basically said you are having withdrawals so I go back to my PCP and ask is there anyway to increase this med I'm having all sorts of pain now and I'm very ill from being dropped almost 50mg that I had taken for three months and then we can taper from there oh that was the biggest mistake ever! He said no I'll send you to pain management, that was almost a two month wait, I come home was in tears how did we get to this point I've been the best patient for the last 7 year's and I felt like I was thrown under the bus, a friend told me he was using something called Subutex it worked wonders on his pain, me feeling as I did it was the final push to say I'm willing to do this I've got to find a doctor I took this for a little over two months, in order to keep pain at a min I had to take large doses the problem confusion anxiety none stop, so backing down my head felt somewhere better then the front moved in I couldn't take it I had postpone the pain management app, I've heard so many rumors they weren't taking half of patients doctors were sending I kept it thinking maybe there was something they could do other then pain meds, went in the doctor told me he couldn't treat me on Subutex there was nothing I can do he said that med is great for addiction not pain, Really!! And yes it is given for that and dependency, back on pain meds not helping and here we go being treated like a addict,,, not sure why but this doctor wrote two scrpits when I called to tell them I wasn't picking them up till the next day the Pharmacy said well you know this is as needed, I said yes ma'am, she said and that means that most people will bear pain as long as they can before taking something, yes I mean made me feel like I was a addict or something people living in pain honestly need something around the clock to manage some of the pain so they can function and have some normal life to live,,, all the government has done was hurt people good people what they don't realize is drug addicts will always find a way to get drugs even if they have to make it all these laws do is hurt patients in pain who actually take there medication correctly it's just sad,

I think It's inhumane to let people suffer because I am one with several chronic pain problems such as degenerative disc disease, chronic fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis in all joints, and possibly ms. Being tested for ms shortly. And of course other health concerns to boot. My doctor had already said if we lowered my medication I would not be able to get out of bed. For some reason fibro or ms, I guess, I can't tolerate anti inflamatories because they cause numbness and burning and stinging so I can't even turn to those to help so I don't see a solution. Even pain management injections caused my legs to feel as if one thousand bees were stinging my legs with just one half dose because the doctor was already concerned about the outcome and I got zero relief of pain and my legs were like that for 10 days. I have looked for alternatives everywhere and found nothing. What is someone like me suppose to do? I would love to be healed this second and not have to ever look at medication again. I did not ask for this so why am I and other's being punished for being sick? Why is our country punishing the legitimate pain patients? The last I heard no government official, nor insurance company nor pharmacy have a Doctors degree.

I have been on Oxycodone for quite some time and it is the only relief I get. I don’t know what will happen if I cannot get my Medicine. I will have No kindnof quality of life. I also have COPD. It is NOT RIGHT because you get these young Punks that don’t want to work but instead make their money SELLING DRUGS !!!! Because of them I might lose my Prescription ?? Again I am 64 yrs. old and just want to be able to be in my home with my Dogs and be able to move and be able to take care of myself and be able to visit with my Granddaughters and enjoy their company while I’m still here on Earth with them. It is NOT RIGHT to take people at my age and make them suffer because of young Drug Sellers. I am Praying that this DOES NOT HAPPEN IN CALIFORNIA. Please this just is not right or fair.

I've had my break through pain medication lowered b ty half 2 months ago and another 1/4 last month . My PM Phtsician said she has to lower m ty long acting medication as well. I've been on my current regimen for 2.5 years and it's allowed me some quality of life not without pain but manageable about 3/4 of the time. I've never needed scripts early (except once for vacation). If this continues my life won't be worth living..

The first time that I seriously started thinking about suicide is when I was cut back to nearly nothing with severe chronic pain. I am unable to walk, breathe sleep or think about anything else other than getting away from the pain. Even with pain medications I have difficuly being able to function. I have already decided that since my life means far less than making me suffer, if I loose my stuff or my wife that is it. I would have never thought like this till I realized that my life is worthless compaired to a drug addict that is in a treatment program that enjoys getting buzzed. I just want to be functional as I was in the past and be able to enjoy what little of my life is left. But calling me being able to feel normal is said to be a national problem and there is only one solution that is my death. Also me having access to what helps me live a normal life is not important nor the life of anyone else. The biggest threat to my life is the control freaks. If they were not so hell bent on making life here on earth hell for millions I amd millions others would not see things this way or feel this way.

My pain management doctor has been very understanding,I just had a double fussion and have lupus SEL,Gout, and degenerative disese,a long with other problems. But my doctor said he had to ween me off of my chronic pain medicine,5 mg a month which isn't that bad.. But I'm on 30 mg methadone a day,and hydrocodone 10 mg "3 times a day.. Most days I do not have to take as much of the break Thur pain medicine. But methadone works well with me,and I'm not sleepy,or drossy from it. No side effects, and the whole prescription of methadone is only 14.00...But a methadone clinic will charge you 15/20 a day, controlled by government.I take a EKG every year to make sure my heart is handling the methadone. It's such a shame that chronic pain sufferers as myself have to come off of our medications because of junkies and the opioid addiction crisis. There are Alot of deaths every day, from an over doses. But don't go after pain suffers that are in pain management getting their urine tests and blood work took, and are doing the right thing. Go after pill Mills, and help those in need of opioid addiction.

Thousands of people have committed suicide for having their opiates remove or reduce severely we need to stop the madness because the crisis is really about illegal drugs and it's forcing people to do just that or take their own life just to end the suffering!

I was diagnosed with a crippling type of arthritis in 1974 at Baptist hospital in Winston Salem N.C. in the first treatment for this was aspirin since then I have took what ever was the newest medication. Now its to the stage the specialist tells me the only thing they can do is keep me comfortable the rest of my life. I take pain medication for this and now with the dope heads and our political do gooders my med has been cut in half. I have been living in misery from not enough medication for 2 years now. I still have to work to pay bills but I don't think I'm gonna make it much longer. Thanks to the druggie that's taking the pursuit of happiness. May they rot in he'll.

I agree. I told my doc that I will need to fake being an addict so I can get pain relief and walk. I’ve had same pain mgt doc for 11 years:, On 1/3 less meds than I was prior to severely botched surgery. It’s figurative and obvious. There’s no way DEA would say I am at risk; Depression and fear of being cut back to point of assisted living at 58, is causing pain levels to increase. I think the government wants us to die. If I were on correct dose like 5 years ago; I COULD WORK!

I depend on Methadone ....30 mg a day and 30mg a day Norco just to be able to move from arthritis, failed back surgery, and autoimmune diseases. Im in my early 60's and cant drive. Its expensive going to a doctor once a month but one a week i can afford. IMHO its going to push more people like me to heroin because its cheap and easy to get.

I just can't live this way. I have so many responsibilities and people depending on me and I have degenerative discs AND bones, my neck and upper back were injured and then UNDER treated/malpractices (one doctor told me there was nothing wrong with me, now another sees there is nothing right with the bones in my spine!). My pelvis has broken off of my spine and I have trouble walking. I don't sleep due to a more than half taper that's being forced on me. And all these no-medical-degree having politicians have handed me a death sentence. There are NO pain clinics where I live; there is one but they do not prescribe for ANYONE. Oh, but they'll treat the addicts and make sure that they don't suffer... I wish everyone good luck with their journeys through this big mess. Some people seem to think that these laws won't last very long because they aren't effective. For everyone else's sake I hope not. I personally am planning to end my life fairly soon. What else do these idiots expect people to do when they can no longer function?

It just doesn't make sense to lump the addicts and the patients in pain altogether in the same drug seeking category. What is wrong with these people in power? The power gone to their heads?? People need these medications to live their lives somewhat normally. Is the government hiding an agenda to eliminate the sick and on pain through Communist-Nazi like methods and tactics under the pretext of helping the with this "so called opiate crisis"??? More people die from cigarettes and alcohol each year and we don't see the government declaring it public crisis#1 all over the news. This is nuts, this opiate witch hunt hysteria. I agree that there has to be talks about it with the Dr and patient when being put on these meds but not to be dropped by your Dr after years of being a patient, and all these other crazy things/ stories that are happening all over the country and starting to come to light on how crazy this hysteria is hurting the good people who actually need these meds to be functioning members, citizens, veterans of society, work, pay taxes, take care of their families, etc. I call on the good citizens, the president, and good government people of this USofA to end this witchhunt and come together to figure out a good solution to this matter to help people with their medications and resolving this situation in a fair and balanced way that is well and fair to the good people that are in pain and have obeyed the rules. I declare this to be solved well and fair with a great positive resolve and outcome, with prosperity, success, health and healing as soon as possible upon us, the citizens of the United States of America, in the Holy Name of Yeshua the Christ, Amin!!!!!!!

This is a very sad thread. I truly feel for people in pain. The reality is that 1 in 3 people who are prescribed opioids for pain become addicted. The vast majority of those addicted to heroin began with prescription pain medication. And opioid use disorder is a brain disease. Not a choice or a result of bad decisions and a character flaw. People need to be better educated all around. This is a crisis. Yes, those of you with pain need to have that pain managed. And I am so grateful you are one of the lucky people who did not become addicted. Have some compassion for those who have. They are your friends and neighbors. Prescribed opioids after surgery or a broken bone. And remember this is a DISEASE like any other. A chronic condition. Just like pain. Both worthy of empathy and treatment.

Thersea 1 in 3? No, Less than 2% of chronic pain patients will become addicted. The people who become addicted are already abusing other substances. If you take out the recreational drug abusers, very very few chronic pain patients become addicts. The media lies, the CDC is currently being sued for lying. All these suicidal CPP deaths will be counted as OD's. CDC " opioid-related deaths"....polydrug use. It is a brain disease, it's been proven on MRI's of the brain. But people in pain don't get high, they only feel SOME reduction in pain. That tiny bit of a quality of life disappears without meds, & leaves Vets & people suicidal. What's the point of living if you're confined to bed in constant pain? It wears down your body, mind, & soul. PM contracts are signed. Random urinalysis ( NO DIVERSION, NO ABUSE), random pill counts ( No ONE CAN STEAL IT) and drug monitering system ( NO DR SHOPPING). I gladly submit to my contract, what did I leave out? Oh, the part about population control & the cull. Naturally the sick & weak would go first. The US is leading in population control in the G8 countries that agreed to Agenda 21 at the 1993 summit in Rio. To help the environment, less people. Heroin or die, it's a win win for the government. Look it up.

Well Well, heres some new perspective I've done allot of research in this as I'm losing my battle I don't think ill make it another 30 days Ive been cut off called a drug addict kicked out of 3 hospitals recently accused of abusing my meds my doctors has lied to me twice now so basically sent home to die this is insane & uncomprehendable for any one who calls themselves a human being I have falling of 5 roofs & walked away from all of them not with out damage was in a gas explosion in my garage burned 50% of my body in 08 in 15 I got a rare deadly disease called necrotisizing fasciitis was told I would have to live on pain meds I wanted to die they wouldn't honer my relies believe operated on me without my consent so they lied just so they could bill the government approx 400,000 for my care now they have decided I'm a drug addict took my meds & left me here to die without my SDI they screwed me out of this is insane these doctors are pieces of shit I think they need to have some of these diseases injected into some of these ignorant DR, & politicians so they can get a birds eye view of what hell on earth truly is now for some statistics 1. DR< kill & male 250.000 people a yr. whicc puts a lot of patients on these meds 2. obesity kills 180.000 per yr ,3. the cdc reports are not the same as DEA conflict of interest I think and the list goes on & on people do the research cancer statics 1in3 for women 1in 2 for men thats something we should be worrying about we have raised probably 10 trillion dollars in the last 40 yrs & have gotten simarly no where according to those stats besides this is about getting everyone off the gov programs as its the biggest debt we have they can't lose because there lying about everything to much to list look up Dr. Max Gerson cured cancer in 1931 depends on where u research but he has proven that he's system works his daughter has a clinics that she took over in Mexico & Arizona but 4 many many yrs. another thing is if they would just use opium in pure form it less likely of all the chemical generated side effects all these derivatives have in them now there saying a new syndrome is narcotic gut unfounded by the Merck medical bible no proven clinical trials yet there working on it though more ammo for them & their propaganda 4. alcoholism kills 10s of thousands & related deaths diabetes kills 80,000 per yr funny thing as well in the last 40 yrs we have we created more new diseases then we have cured 1. answer money we are no longer people we are # numbers to sum it up for now what I can't stand is these commercials that get these kids to say u can't quit opioids by yourself well screw u kid don't dare try to tell my of my capabilitys when are these kids and parents start to realize it is our responsibility to not only teach our children the difference between right and wrong but teach them accountability as well we already have a criminal justice system for those that want to break the laws when are going to stop punishing the American public for the few criminals in this world never cause theres too much money to be made its 300.000 + million Americans yrs approx 16,000 overdoses thats a stack reality of a lot of things going on here I have a lot more to say but for another time if I'm still here if anyone wants to sign a petition or a class action I'm willing to start one I need addresses or ph # to get things started heres mine 707-963-9971 if anyone needs to talk or start something petition I think is a few hundred signatures and class action is 30 I believe people it can be done we are all in this together people God Bless u all goodnight

OMG AMEN! You said it all, or wait a minute is this just our fuzzy opiate brains making us delirious because the US would never do such a thing. We must be delusional from our pain meds or maybe we finally peeled back all the BS and exposed the truth. But we can all discuss and comment forever. We are here for one reason and that's to inform our OMNISCIENT-less Drug law Officials that WE OPIATE DRUG USERS ARE NOT ALL DRUG ABUSERS OR ADDICTS. I know people that wash down ZANI bars with a glass of wine and by the second dose can't stand up or tell you their name but who drive to the liquor store when the wine runs out but, I guess anxiety attacks take precedent over chronic pain. Yes! i am being cynical. I don't want to talk about it anymore. I do not want to suck it up any more .Twenty-two years same medicine same dose same ENT prescribing DR who diagnosed my stage 4 cancer and I was informed this week he cannot prescribe my medicine any more now,I have to find a pain medicine dr who does not know what i have been through and not just treatment but the long-lasting effect of chemo and more so radiation. We need to band together by the thousands and somehow to devise a way to get President Trump or First Lady Trumps's attention. It's a shame that we cannot go after just the legislators because there are to many to pass the buck onto someone else. That is not possible with the President. Maybe a reminder as to how many veteran and chronic pain people are also registered voters and we will NOT stop until we are heard. The comment I read are almost identical we are not asking for any special laws we are asking for indiviual considerations to excuse us from these ridiculous laws. This statue can still be applied to suspicious users or new users But come on you want to apply these rules, laws and guide line to those of us that have been on the same drug, same dose and in some cases the same dr for 10++ years. It's not fair I again am diagnosed after 24 years with stage one tonsil cancer.I'm not taking Chemo or Radiation.I take an immunotherapy drug that causes me intense colitis and I mean INTENSE and joint muscle pain plus other minor side effects. If I cannot get a DR to prescribe my pain medication at the same dosing schedule and mg I don't want to even think of what's to come. Please let's organize, let us start with a list of names, what your affliction is, where you live and how long you have been on your drug also a way to you. This has got to stop. It's a form of discrimination and profiling. maybe an attorney can find a way to incite a lawsuit. that's always an attention getter

According to govt sourced websites such as the CDC and DEA less than 1 in 4 chronic pain pts will become addicted to their pain managment protocols. Less than 1% of prescribed pts this includes anyone prescribed opiates will become addicted. 44k ppl in 2016 died from an OD. The vast majority of those deaths had at minimum 6 substances in their system. Alcohol was heavly documented as one of those substances. Going strictly by the CDC 16k ppl had an rx opiate in their system at time of death. According to Doctors who have sifted through the data less than 2k ppl had a single RX opiate in their system at time of death. Almost every Overdose in 2016 was caused by illicit fentanyl sourced from China and Heroin from mexico. Rx have been cut to the point their are now drug shortages. Hospice pts, pallative care pts, surgery pts, and our furry friends cannot get pain relief. The opioid epidemic is not caused by rx opiates it is caused by illegal drug use with illicit drugs. 123 ppl a day commit suicide a day in America psychologist theorize at minimum 25% of those deaths are caused by undermanaged pain. In other words Suicide Due To Pain and that percent is still considered low at 40%. So please tell me again how restricting legal opiates in an at risk population is the best way to combat the "opioid epidemic". It is out right genocide on the chronically diseased and a sly way to cut medicare/medicade.

I don’t know where your getting your information but there’s really no way to say this except bluntly so for that I’m sorry, but you don’t know what your talking about. 1 in 3? Seriously? This whole “crisis” is a hoax perpetrated by the government (DEA) thru manipulation of statistics & even if you were naive enough to believe them, even their “bogus” statistics do NOT support your 1 in 3 statement. There are tens of millions of chronic pain patients like myself that have been under successful treatment with opioids for YEARS, without addiction. Physical dependence is NOT ADDICTION! If you use over the counter nasal spray for a decade you won’t be able to breathe through your nose without it because your body is physically dependent on the spray, so are you a neosinefrin addict? According to you more than 30% of people prescribed these meds become “addicted” to them, just the sheer numbers prove that wrong. I’ve been cut 75% of my dose in the last 18 months & can no longer work now so I guess I get to file SSDI & lay around in misery until I die because we are living in a totalitarian government & police state and nobody in the country can stick together long enough over any issue to change things & the vast majority of society that could help pressure the government into many changes & return some small amount of freedom to this country are in the dark & fooled by the governments propoganda machine. There are “literally” ten fold more people killed in alcohol related incidents everyday than die from opioids in a year. Do some real research & look at what’s going on. This is just one more step and one more freedom lost. Regardless of your views on opioids or your politics you must realize that the freedoms we were taught that Americans had when we were growing up are all gone now & the idea that we are free is a facade. You have government agents with an average of 2-4 years of education and in the field of criminal justice overruling decisions made between patients & doctors with DECADES of education. Education in the field of medicine. It’s insane! When you have the government getting between you & your doctor & intimidating the medical professionals into submission, telling adult Americans that they no longer have a say in their treatment, you have these same folks telling all of us what we can or cannot put in our own bodies. How much more oppressive does it have to get for people to wake up from the illusion of freedom? Do that have to come into your bedroom & tell you when where & how your allowed to have sex with your partner before you people wake up?? Trust me, we are not far away from that point now

Theresa, I do not know where you get your statistics from, but that is WAY off. Less than 3 % of chronic pain patients actually get addicted. The CDC ADMITS that their stats are skewed. 17 scientists FROM the CDC have written a long statement, saying the studies that the CDC used were cherry picked by ONE doctor, and we ALL should know and remember his name! Andrew Kolodny! He has an interest in the company that makes Suboxone. He is a recovering addict himself, and WAS the director of The Phoenix House. NOW, he just tortures pain patients who are doing NOTHING wrong! I work with the chronic pain community, am an advocate and a pain patient myself. The lies and cover up are like something we have never seen before in the medical field. The small group of doctors, led by Kolodny, out of NY called PROP, are behind all of this mess! It is easy to follow the money, I have been for years. IT always comes down to money, and the hell with people in pain who are NOT addicts. We jump through EVERY hoop that is there, and our doctors do, too. This needs to stop. Medical marijuana is great, but it does not replace all pain meds. The state of Illinois thinks if they legalize medical marijuana, they can make their state "opiate free". NOOOOOOOOOO< the suicide rate is going up, not down,. and that is national! OUR employees in DC need to grow a pair, and find out the truth, not just what the DEA, the CDC, and the FDA and PROP is telling them. There is a crisis all right , and calls to suicide hotlines have quadrupled in the last TWO years!!!! I have personally done suicide watches in my support groups for chronic pain patients, and for sleep disorders related to pain. For myself, I am facing extreme surgery for my SI joint with screws and rods, and 3 herniated disks. I will have 2 surgeons doing this to me all at once, and even though I love my doctors, because they are not intimidated, I cannot help but worry what will happen with post op pain control. The recovery period is at least 6 months, and that is scary enough by itself. This will be my 5th back surgery, have had 2 neck surgeries, and am a 2 time cancer survivor. This is getting out of hand, and the AG can shut it, "Take and aspirin and suck it up", He needs to be in some pain, and FEEL what we are feeling, as do most of the old men in DC. They have NO idea what they are doing to people who follow all the rules, never not passed a urine screening, never failed a pill count, and so on. We sign narcotics contracts, also. I signed mine 14 yrs ago, and me and my doctor have been way ahead of the curve here, BUT, even then, we worry. This is not FAIR or ?RIGHT. I refuse to sit back and do nothing. There are many things people can do, and one is to contact your DC representatives and MAKE them listen. I have done that, attended all kinds of hearings, one that included the head of the FDA. The LACK of compassion in those rooms are disgusting! And, never mind how our veterans are being treated. My sister is a nurse at the VA and they have been scrambling for the last 2 yrs. This does NOT make America GREAT, it diminishes this country. Sadly many countries are following our lead, and they need to stop. I will NEVER stop fighting til the day I die and that is what keeps me going as long as I have breath left in my body!

i understand the issue of addiction. There is not one of us on opioid pain medication that does not have a PHYSICAL need for the drug after a month of continuous use. A headache, Nausea, Irritated leg syndrome, muscle cramps, and depression to name my own experience. However, I do these long spaces without my meds to see how my body feels without it. The pain is not only crippling., but my mental and emotional pain is also heightened keeping me in the bed all day and night. When I do return back to my prescribed dosing, I am not seeking a high I despise that feeling. If i take more than a half tsp of Benedryl I get foggy headed and sleepy. I hate it. I'm sorry you became addicted but you are correct that addiction is a medical issue requiring medical care. I am not downsizing your experience but, not everyone has an addictive personality. My brain does not respond to drugs in that way. I consider that a blessing. I also would expect that you realize this fact to be true. Even though I go through a physical withdraw I have taken Hydrocodone for 22 years 1 tsp every four hours. Sometimes I got as much as 12 hours just to get a reality check and tune in to what is really going on with my body. I regret those long spans because once you allow the pain to get that intense it's hard to regain that bearable level again without increasing the dose or taking it closer together,. I refuse to do that for the simple reason this is not a recreational drug. This is not to make me giddy or happy. I respect this drug knowing what it is capable of as far as dependency goes. I feel GOD has blessed me with this opportunity because reality i would never get out of this bed. I would not be a part of family trips, dinners or whatever. In my thoughts there would be nothing to live for, nothing to motivate me to keep me fighting. No one can understand this four-letter word unless they walk on that path "PAIN" Stop putting us in the same DAMN category as an abuser. We do NOT, NOT take this to lay back and BUZZ the F_ _K out. We function as normal as we can but we function with not a pain-free body but a lessened pain body. For chronic pain regardless of the level. there is no such thing as a PAIN killer. It's a pain reducer. That is enough to get us by. When you reduce it or take it away You ( the lawmakers) have the gall to wonder why people turn to Heroine. What is it ? the pharmaceutical companies aren't providing enough of a kickback profit for opiates that Heroine does? Why is Heroine easily obtainable at a fair price and opiates are not? What's the difference? Show me the logic in that. This is not a personal attack.I truly pray that you settled those issues and I will continue to pray for your long-term success. I wonder what happens when you are treated for addiction and still deal with true chronic pain. Is there an alternative that works. Just because you have the disease of addiction doesn't mean you are pain-free. What did they substitute for your pain?

I'm in the same boat and once again had my pain medication refused and as I sit here my doctor is trying to get it turned over. Two months ago they took my anxiety medication because they said I can no longer have pain medications and the anxiety medication. Now I can't have my pain medication and fighting every month for it doesn't help the anxiety at all. I don't want to live if I have to go back to nothing. I'm between an 8 and a 10 with the pain medication and don't want to go back to crying in a ball on the floor everyday. At least I have a half normal life with it. My husband says I would be selfish if I give up but he doesn't feel it. He says he feels it to but he doesn't. My kids aren't going to want be around me then and I don't blame them. I already can't do a lot of the things that we used to do as a family and have to just watch but at least I can watch them. Why is it that the government thinks it knows more then the doctors. All I know is I can't keep going like this. Its bad enough he can't change my medications since its not helping as much after my hip replacement which is due to my back fusion and I have my other hip replacement to look forward to. I have disc degenteration so will probably have to have more done for it. I don't know what to do but I am NOT a drug addict and do not abuse them in anyway. This isn't fair to those of us who really are in constant pain and feels like no one cares. I have written several letters to our representatives and the president and only go one response that basically said sorry but the opiate addiction is more important. If anyone has any suggestions as to what to do to fight this please let me know.
