Tessalon Perles frequently works wonders, It's my go to script for 90%of viral upper respiratory infections. I also have a pre written non pharmacological prescription written to individualize each client's specific cc. For example Netti pots with specific directions for use, zylitol nasal spray, fresh ginger/dark honey/cinnamon tea preparations, humidity, fluids, even Costco chicken soup! Prescribing a day of rest in writing often helps. Rapid strep tests work wonders when they ask for abx for severe pharyngitis. I show them the test results and that seems to help. I will sometimes give a prescription to clients (I work in corporate health practices) if they are traveling and will be away from work for some days...only to fill if symptoms worsen or persist.
