Physician Sentiment Index: How Do Doctors Really Feel?

by Andrew Scutro, Senior Associate, Communications

Overburdened and worried about the future might be two ways to characterize the modern physician…

And we would know. This morning we released the 2012 Physician Sentiment Index (PSI). You can read the results directly here; if you prefer the official notice, you can read the press release too.

The PSI is our annual exercise, three years running, with the online physician community Sermo. It’s our way of taking the pulse of doctors on whatever issues they find themselves tackling, bemoaning or hoping to avoid at the time. How do they feel about EHR adoption? Is it worth the trouble to try earning Meaningful Use incentives? What about the effect of Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) on the actual quality of care?

As you’ll  see from the results, there’s no shortage of feeling on these topics and this blog can come in handy as a platform for you to share your thoughts. What did we miss? What questions would you ask physicians? Leave a comment here and let us know.

In the meantime, follow us on Twitter for what could turn into a lively discussion on the challenges of being a physician today in the U.S.
