The beauty of athenaClinicals is that my time is now my time again.

athenaClinicals has changed the way we practice medicine.

I am not reviewing charts all day; I am not spending any time at the end of the day. I leave the office after I see my last patient because I am throughout the day constantly signing off scripts, signing off orders, basically just with a little click of my hand on a touch screen I can get through all my charts. So it has revolutionized my practice, it has improved my efficiency. I can see more patients in a day if I so choose. The patients think it’s really cool. Historically if a fax would come to my office it would sit on the fax machine for a few hours until someone decided to pick it up. Then they would have to go tie it to a chart and then bring the chart to me. That was the workflow.

We spent the majority of our day shuffling paper and that’s gone. We have no paper.

So now what athena does, which I think is quite brilliant is that they will intercept my fax line and the fax will go to their servers.

athena nicely packages that and sorts it and sends it back into the electronic bucket of the person who needs to see that data.

The fax will immediately be linked up to the patient’s chart online and it will show up as an electronic document on my inbox. And so if it’s a prescription refill I will basically just click okay and it’s gone. I’m very excited about the HITECH Act; I feel that I am ready to roll. I think when they roll out what it is exactly they want I believe that I have that already and anything that is required from me I am confident that athena will have already made sure is in place and I will be able to get those checks and will be very excited about using those checks.
