Overview

Care coordination that benefits the whole community.

Across the health care system today, care coordination remains inefficient due to redundancies, manual inputs and errors.

athenaCoordinatorSM, formerly known as Proxsys, is a cloud-based care coordination service for order transmission, insurance pre-certification and patient registration among physicians and hospitals, surgical centers and imaging centers. More than 8,000 ordering physicians access the system daily.

Today, athenaCoordinator serves 90 client facilities ranging from small rural hospitals to large academic medical centers and health systems. Over time, we plan to evolve and expand the service to include other health care entities such as independent labs, pharmacies, durable medical equipment companies, ambulance services, and more.

Benefits for Hospitals

For hospital clients, athenaCoordinator manages the difficult and costly work associated with coordinating care among the hospital, payers and patients. This new service delivers more control and cuts down on busywork by eliminating unnecessary redundancies and optimizing the electronic ordering process.

As a service offering, athenaCoordinator handles cumbersome tasks on behalf of clients, creating workflow efficiencies and freeing up staff time and resources.

Hospitals see:

  • More revenue from reduced denials, higher procedure volume and increased up-front (or Point-of-Service) collection of self-pay balances
  • Faster revenue from fewer delays in payment, elimination of lost orders and pre-appointment patient collections
  • Greater control and reduced workload from the completion of pre-registration and electronic order transmission
  • Improved patient satisfaction due to a streamlined registration process

Benefits for Practices

Medical practices access athenaCoordinator to send patients to hospitals and other facilities. With this service, they can spend less time managing outbound orders, obtaining pre-certifications, scheduling patients and following up with clinical documentation. They also get much better visibility on the status of the patients they have sent to the receiving facility. Spending less time on these tasks frees-up providers to focus their efforts on patient care.

Sending practices see:

  • Increased revenue from a reduction in denials
  • Less work managing outbound orders, obtaining pre-certifications, scheduling patients and following-up with clinical documentation
  • Greater control over order transmission and scheduling

athenaCoordinator comprises three key service components:

Order transmission — This web-based platform facilitates easy order entry and status for physicians, enables our pre-certification and pre-registration services and delivers clean orders to the hospital.

Pre-certification — A dedicated team of specialists with clinical and payer knowledge verifies eligibility and benefits. They also obtain the required insurance pre-certifications to ensure claims get paid the first time.

Pre-registration — A dedicated team of specialists delivers pre-registration services to ensure order fulfillment, patient registration in the hospital system and increased up-front collection of self-pay balances.
