Will Your Practice be a Live Benchmarking Winner in 2007?
Welcome to Live Benchmarking 2007! We learned a lot in 2006 – the first year of our Live Benchmarking Program. Thank you to all the athenahealth clients that participated in the Program. In 2007, athenahealth practices will continue to have access to Live Benchmarking and will be able to compare their practice against others in their region and specialty on the following four metrics. We use an aggregate score of these metrics to determine the top three practices in each region and specialty on a quarterly basis.
- Charge entry lag – average length of time (in days) between the date of service and the date the charge is entered
- HOLD lag – average number of days claims sit in the hold bucket before being worked
- MGRHOLD lag – average number of days claims sit in the manager hold bucket before being worked
- % of Self-Pay > 90 days – percentage of open self-pay balances that are older than 90 days
In order to ensure that we are comparing apples to apples, in 2007 athenaBasicPlus and athenaCollector clients will be eligible for Live Benchmarking awards. Because the athenaBasic service does not include athenahealth's posting of denials, which drive the HOLD and MGRHOLD rates, we cannot make certain that athenaBasic users are being scored equitably against athenaCollector and athenaBasicPlus users. athenaBasic clients will still have access to Live Benchmarking data through athenaNet but will not be eligible for the quarterly and annual awards.
To qualify to win, practices must enter at least 600 claims over the quarter, and must have been live at least 90 days prior to the first day of the quarter. Additionally, to level the playing field for practice size, the contest evaluates each provider group (if your practice utilizes provider groups) individually. If you don't see the name of your provider group in the winners' section, please contact your Account Manager.
To view your overall rank in each category over a 7-day average for a real-time view, and a 91-day average for a quarterly view, log into athenaNet.
At the end of each quarter, #1 ranked winners in each region will receive a catered lunch for their practice with an athenahealth guest. All quarterly winners will be eligible to win a grand prize at this year's User Conference in October. Good luck!
