Posting Issues: What We're Working on Now
Release 9.4, due for launch in mid-September, contains some very exciting and long-awaited improvements in the unpostables workflow. We're pleased to be addressing this area of athenaNet based on your feedback. For our practice users, this release will contain:
- A new entry in the unpostables workflow,
- A more clear depiction of the work that needs to be completed at the practice,
- A more condensed categorization schema, and
- Enhanced tools to make resolving unpostables easier.
At the same time, we're focusing on reducing the rate of unpostables altogether and on improving the accuracy of unpostables categorization by introducing a rules infrastructure for athenahealth users.
Despite these improvements, our work is far from complete. In future releases, we'll be focusing on a new document management workflow for practice users to better manage the lifecycle of correspondence related materials received at the lockbox, creating tools for athenahealth billing staff to improve the speed and efficacy of resolving athenahealth-responsible unpostables, and even more tools to make it easier for practice users to resolve unpostables related to patient statements.
Concurrent with this work is another initiative to better document and communicate the standards used in the posting process that should make it abundantly more clear why and how unpostables are appropriately created. While this and the aforementioned work are underway, we do hope that our practice users find these changes in 9.4 to be a step forward.
Stay tuned for continuing updates on how we're addressing your concerns about posting.
