athenahealth helps clients process re-adjudicated Medicare payments
As many of our clients already know, Medicare reimbursement rates were cut by 4.4% for 2006. Responding to pressure, funding was restored, and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) revised the rate schedule. However, the change was made retroactively - so claims paid from 1/1/06-2/2/06 were re-adjudicated and additional payments will be made for these claims.
Over the course of several months, Medicare will be making these additional payments. athenahealth expect to process approximately 600,000 of these payments for our clients. We have created a workflow which keeps the payments as athenahealth's responsibility and shields the client from additional labor costs.
