Frequently Asked Questions

When will I hear back on my application?

Resumes are generally reviewed within 2-3 weeks after submission. Due to the high volume of applicants we are only able to respond to those we feel are the most qualified.

What is the recruiting process?

The number of jobs we have available change on a regular basis; this drives the timeline to some degree. You can always check the careers page for any updates. After your resume is reviewed and identified as a qualified match for one of our roles (even if it's a role you did not apply for), you will receive a phone call or email asking for your availability for a phone interview. If all goes well with the phone interview, you will be asked to come in to meet with the recruiter and the hiring manager. You might also meet with members of the team you would be working with. If the feedback from the first round interview is positive, you will be invited back for a second and final round. The timeline for this process varies from position to position, depending on manager schedules. This interview process could last several weeks depending upon the role.

If I do not hear back from you, should I assume that I am not a fit for any of your open roles?

Yes. We are fortunate enough to receive an overwhelming number of resumes and are only able to respond to those we feel are a strong fit.

How do I find a job that fits me?

You can use the key word search field to search for specific skill sets and further narrow your results by departments. You may also want to sign up for Job Alerts; it's a great way of getting timely notice about jobs that may be a good match. We will email you as soon as we post new jobs that fit your preferences. You can unsubscribe from Job Alerts at any time.

What happens if I'm not sure what job I'm the best fit for?

Our recruiters are trained in all department needs and skill sets. When we review your resume for one job, we keep all open positions in mind. If we feel you might be a better fit for a job you did not apply for, we will send you an email to review the new job description and get feedback from you on whether the position would be of interest.

What if a current athenahealth employee referred me?

Please select employee referral as your source and note the first and last name of the referring "athenista." You may also send your resume to the athenahealth employee to submit your resume for you. You would then be asked via email to complete the application portion online.
