Being Patient-Centered With an EHR

To the naysayers who may think an EHR takes away from the patient-physician connection, we say ‘think again.’ And so does the Hudson Headwaters Health Network (HHHN).

With locations spread over six counties in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, Hudson Headwaters provides primary care to more than 50,000 people and, as a Federally Qualified Health Center, they accept patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Not long ago, HHHN implemented athenahealth’s EHR and took a new approach to care by qualifying as a Patient-Centered Medical Home. To meet qualifications, Hudson Headwaters’ providers have to manage care as a team and they encourage patients to become a little more responsible for their own health.

Watch this video to see how they’ve adopted a “whole different way of taking care of people” at HHHN.
